how do you have your child learn the spelling words each week?   I bought these markers for the windows - she has a great time writing them all over the windows and then cleaning it up!

We have been lucky so far that my sons word are super easy.  I.e. - pat, hat, mat

I'm not sure what I will do when he gets older.  I am pretty bad at making sure homework gets done.  We do do it but barely.

J is constantly asking me how to spell words and we sound it out together.  He's a really good reader so the phonics really help him to figure out how to spell stuff.

My son's 1st grade teacher told us to let them spell however they want for writing assignments.  She just wants them to get in the habit and flow of writing sentences and not get hung up on spelling right now.  So it is ok if he writes:

I want to hav a parde. It wod be fun.

You get the point...it is really hard from me to not correct him.

My daughter (2nd grade) seems to learn them during the week at school.  We review them verbally the night before the test and if she has problems with any of them, I have her write them a couple times.

My sons homework involves spelling and usually he's pretty good by midweek knowing them all because he's a pretty good reader and his 2nd grade spelling words aren't too difficult yet.

A friend of mine told me of a website called http://www.spellingcity.com and you can enter their words and it will have games using their spelling words, I tried it and it seems to be pretty good.

My daugter is in the 4th grade.  Not only is she using her spelling words each day for her spelling homework, I have her write out her words 2x's each the night before her test then quiz her on them.  She gets any wrong, she writes out that word 5x's each.  That usually works pretty well.
